GOLF SWING TIPS: LEARN HOW TO HIT YOUR SCORING CLUBS TO DIFFERENT YARDAGES

You should learn how to swing your scoring clubs at five different levels to flight your ball to your desired target.

Your scoring clubs primarily are your wedges. (I have written another article on the advantage of having five different wedges in your set – available to read at locked-ingolf.com.)

The first level is a wrist swing.

A wrist swing consists of arching or rotating the wrists fully – without any body rotation.

A wrist swing should fly or roll your ball for only a few yards, particularly when swinging a lob or sand wedge.

The second level is a one-quarter golf swing.

One of the best ways to judge a one-quarter golf swing is to observe the point your left elbow bisects your ball from your line of vision during your back swing

Once your left elbow bisects your ball, you should stop your swing at such point and then begin your downswing

A one-quarter swing is more of an arm swing than a body swing.

The third swing level is the one-half golf swing.

The best way to judge a one-half golf swing is to observe the point the end of your short-sleeved shirt bisects your ball –   from your line of vision – during your backswing. (This assumes the sleeve length of your shirts is the standard polo length.)

You should stop your backswing at this point and begin your downswing.

The one-half golf swing entails some body rotation but is more of an arm swing.

The three-quarter swing is the fourth level of the five possible golf swing sequences with your scoring clubs.

The best way to judge a three-quarter swing is to stop your golf swing at the point your left shoulder barely touches your chin.

At this point, you should begin your downswing.

The three-quarter swing consists of a much more body rotation. As a result, it will produce very good yardage relative to each of your scoring clubs.

The last level is a full golf swing.

It requires you to swing your club to the point your left shoulder firmly touches your chin.

It consists of mostly body rotation in comparison to an arm swing. As a result, it should produce the maximum of yardage for each respective scoring club.

If you learn how to hit each of your scoring clubs at these five different levels, you should improve your scores and lower your handicap significantly.
