Golf instruction has not changed much in more than 100 years. 

Although conventional golf instructors teach differently- given their own experiences and background – most teach their students how to manipulate   their club during their golf swing in an attempt to square the face of their club to their ball at impact in order to hit straight golf shots.   

For example, you will observe instructors teaching their students to swing their club more to the outside of their target line during their backswing in an attempt to square the face of their club to the ball at impact.

You will observe other instructors teaching their students to swing their club more to the inside of their shoulder line during their backswing in an attempt to square the face of their club to the ball at impact.

The fact that the club has to be manipulated in some way during the golf swing only goes to show that the club face was not squared to the ball at the beginning of the swing.

Unfortunately, much of conventional golf instruction is based on guesswork.

The sad truth is that with the best equipment available on the planet and golfing aids and devices galore, fewer than ninety percent of recreational golfers can break a score of 90 if their very lives depended on it – if hitting from the “tips” and counting all stokes.

Attempting to manipulate a golf club during a golf swing in an attempt to square a club face to a golf ball at impact is not the solution to lowering   scores and reducing handicaps.
